Essay Contest 2014
JEI is excited and proud to announce the arrival of our 2014 Essay Contest, taking place on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 9:30AM. For both JEI members and non-members in grades 2 through 7, this contest will serve as an excellent opportunity to test essay-writing skills and participate in a fun learning opportunity.
The contest will be taking place at five major locations on the West Coast in Los Angeles (CA), Milpitas (CA), San Diego (CA), and on the East Coast in North Brunswick (NJ), and in Bayside (NY). Along with these major locations, local centers such as Cerritos (CA), Chico (CA), Austin (TX), Katy-Richmond (TX), Burlington (MA), Richmond Hill (ON, CAN), Toronto (ON, CAN), Coquitlam (BC, CAN), Vancouver (BC, CAN), and Calgary (AB, CAN) will also be holding the contest.
What to expect:
Essay-Writing Duration: One hour
Essay Topic: Each grade level will be given a different topic at the start of the competition. Students in grades 2 through 5 will be given creative-based writing prompts, while students in grades 6 and 7 will be asked to complete a literature analysis.
Upon completion, all participants' essays will be sent to the LA Headquarters for our Language Arts experts to evaluate. Once the evaluation is finished, prizes will be handed out to the top four participants.
For the lucky winners, prizes will include a $1,000 college scholarship + Samsung Galaxy Tab (Grand Prize), a Samsung Galaxy Tab (1st Place for each grade level), a $100 Barnes & Noble gift card (2nd Place for each grade level), and a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card (3rd Place for each grade level).

If your child is a JEI member, please register him/her at the JEI Learning Center they are currently attending or have attended previously. If you are interested in joining the JEI Parent Seminar while the competition takes place, you can do so at select locations.
Test results will be published on December 15, 2014. Each participant's report card will be available online.
