Software Test Engineer – Android Smartphone (Contract)

Contract Junior Software Test Engineer

The Test Engineer will be responsible for software testing all LGE North American Android mobile devices such as G4, G3, G Flex2, Nexus etc to ensure the highest quality products to our customers. This position requires strong technical and analytical skills in order to develop and execute test plans to meet the aggressive time lines for our time to market needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handset testing on LGE and competitive products (Android and Brew Platform) for each build using LGE test strategy and test plans to achieve early detection and low field claims.

• Application testing (Calling, SMS, MMS, Multimedia and other related application features dependent on network ), Functional,

• ET (Exploratory testing) on multiple products builds and found several high priority issues.

• Developing test plans for network impacted features / carrier requirements

• General understanding of mobile carrier, platform & business points of view.

• Flashing/loading new builds, conducting handset testing & raise relevant, critical service issues when discovered.

• Logging bugs with using HP Quality Center/Jira/Bugzilla as a defect tracking tool.

• Working with technical marketing team to review the developed test cases and update the test cases repositories.

• Monitor and support defects with R&D, troubleshoot and log issues.

• Driving Pre-meetings and Conference call meetings with R&D , in order to focus R&D for fixing critical-launch gating issues

• Participate in SW reviews to provide input on SW carrier requirements, SW designs, Test schedules, and potential problems.

• Execute lab and field functional software testing

• Power consumption testing and escalate potential battery issues to management

• Collecting android logs (Main, Event, Kernel, Radio logs etc…)

• Testing FOTA/GOTA/Web Download /other upgrade methods and reporting issues with minute details.

• Executing Google Market applications tests (download and verify functionality) on multiple product builds.

• Understanding test engineer’s concern and providing them solutions for technical issues

• Escalating issues to Management , if any in a timely manner

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in engineering, computer science or closely related discipline

• 0 to 2 years test experience with wireless technologies across all OS’ platforms ( Android, Brew, Windows)

• Strong knowledge of wireless network and device development as well as OS technical skills

• Thorough knowledge of wireless lab and field testing experience

• Understanding of SW testing techniques and methodologies

• Strong knowledge of product development and system test processes

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Detailed oriented with strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral

• Ability to handle difficult situations in a fast-paced environment

• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential
