Sean: Excuse me. I'm new to Los Angeles. What's the best way to get to the beach?

션: 실례합니다. LA는 처음이라서요. 바닷가 가는 가장 좋은 방법이 뭘까요?

Man: Which beach are you going to?

남자: 어느 바닷가를 가시는데요?

Sean: Santa Monica Beach.

션: 샌타모니카 바닷가요.

Man: Well you have a choice. You can take the freeway or the streets.

남자: 그게 선택을 하실 수 있어요. 프리웨이를 타도 되고 로컬로 가도 돼요.

Sean: Which way is fastest?

션: 어떤 게 가장 빠른가요?

Man: If I were you I'd take the freeway. Yeah you're better off taking the freeway. It's faster.

남자: 저라면 프리웨이를 타겠어요. 예 프리웨이를 타는 게 낫겠네요. 더 빠르거든요.

Sean: What freeway do I take and what exit do I get off?

션: 어떤 프리웨이를 타고 어디서 내려야 하나요?

Man: Take the Santa Monica Freeway all the way to the very end.

남자: 샌타모니카 프리웨이를 타고 끝까지 쭉 가세요.

Sean: It ends at the beach.

션: 바닷가에서 끝나나요.

Man: Yes. At the end of the freeway the beach is right in front of you. You can't miss it.

남자: 예. 프리웨이가 끝나는 곳에서 보면 바로 앞으로 바닷가가 보여요. 놓칠 수가 없어요.

기억할만한 표현

*(One) is new (to a place or a thing): (장소나 물건이) 낯설다, 잘 모르다.

“I’m new to computer games. I don’t know how to play them yet.” (난 컴퓨터 게임은 낯설어. 어떻게 하는지 몰라.)

*If I were you…: 내가 너라면….

“If I were you, I’d buy the four-door car instead of the two-door.” (내가 너라면 2도어 차 대신 4도어 차를 사겠다.)

*You can’t miss it: 금방 눈에 띄어요. 놓칠 수가 없어요.

“The post office is around the corner with a big flag in front of it. You can’t miss it.” (우체국은 모퉁이 돌아서면 있는데 앞에 큰 깃발이 있어요. 쉽게 찾을 수 있어요.)
